Gabriela Chaborski
Gabriela Chaborski was a pioneering Romanian chemist, born on October 14, 1891, in Bârlad, Vaslui. She made significant contributions to the field of chemistry and was recognized as the first female university lecturer in Romania. Chaborski completed her studies at the Faculty of Physical-Chemical Sciences in Bucharest in 1916 and earned her doctoral degree in 1919 in Geneva, where she discovered a new form of yeast. Her academic career flourished as she became an assistant and then a lecturer in inorganic chemistry at the University of Bucharest. Her work led to original methods for separating and measuring elements and included studies on molecular structure, earning her recognition both nationally and internationally. She passed away on November 25, 1936, due to chronic heart disease.
