Gabriele Caccia
Gabriele Caccia is a 68-year-old Italian archbishop currently serving as the Holy See's ambassador to the United Nations in New York. He has been appointed to replace Cardinal Christophe Pierre as the apostolic nuncio to the United States, who is retiring at the age of 80. Caccia has previously held the position of apostolic nuncio in Lebanon and the Philippines before his appointment to the UN in 2019. Ordained as a priest in Milan in 1983, he has also served as an advisor in the Vatican's Secretariat of State, a significant administrative role within the Holy See.
