Gao Jiecheng (1909-1943) was a prominent figure in the Chinese resistance during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Born in Zhangzhou, he studied economics at Xiamen University and became a key financial strategist for the Communist forces. He notably founded the Jinan Bank in the Taihang Mountains in 1939, which provided crucial financial support to the Eighth Route Army amidst Japanese efforts to destabilize the region's economy with counterfeit currency. Gao's innovative banking practices and strategies played a vital role in sustaining the economic lifeline of the anti-Japanese base areas. Tragically, he sacrificed his life in 1943 at the age of 34 while protecting important documents during a surprise enemy attack, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and commitment to the national cause.
