Gara Jovanović

Gara Jovanović is a central figure in the documentary film 'Planina' ('To Hold a Mountain'), which recently won the Grand Jury Prize for Best International Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. As a mother and shepherdess in the remote mountainous regions of Montenegro, she embodies resilience and strength, defending her ancestral land from threats of military exploitation while nurturing her daughter, Nada, amidst generational trauma and societal challenges.
