Gargamel is the main antagonist in the Smurfs franchise, created by Peyo. He is a scheming and often clumsy wizard whose primary goal is to capture the Smurfs, believing that they can provide him with immense power or be transformed into gold. Gargamel is characterized by his unkempt appearance, dark robes, and a penchant for failure, often thwarted in his plans by the cleverness of the Smurfs and his cat, Azrael.
