Gaspar de Carvajal

Gaspar de Carvajal was a Spanish missionary and explorer who traveled through the Amazon in the 1540s. His accounts described densely populated regions with large settlements, which have been largely dismissed by later historians, but are now being reconsidered in light of new archaeological findings.
