Gaspar Pérez de Villagrá

Gaspar Pérez de Villagrá was a Spanish poet and historian born in the late 16th century, best known for his epic poem 'Historia de la Nueva México' published in 1610, which chronicles the Spanish colonization of New Mexico and is considered one of the earliest literary works documenting the future United States.
