Geli Wangjiu is a dedicated employee of the China Huaneng Group, who has been instrumental in the revitalization of the village of Waichong in Qamdo, Tibet. Eight years ago, he arrived in the area as part of a rural support initiative, facing significant challenges including high poverty rates and limited infrastructure. Through collaborative efforts with local artisans and the establishment of a cooperative, Wangjiu helped transform traditional wood carving—a craft with over 300 years of history—into a thriving industry, generating millions in revenue and establishing the village as a national model for rural governance. His vision includes expanding infrastructure and technology to further enhance the cultural and economic prospects of the region, ensuring a sustainable future for the local community.
