George Poulias

George Poulias, born in 1930, is a long-time resident of Agios Stratis, Greece. He vividly recalls the island's transformation following the devastating earthquake in 1968, which led to significant changes in its demographics and infrastructure. Once a bustling place with a thriving community, the island saw its population dwindle in the aftermath of the quake, and many locals were forced to leave. George, who once ran a general store and café, chose to stay and witnessed the island's evolution over the decades. With a deep connection to his roots, he has dedicated his life to preserving the memory and identity of Agios Stratis, despite the challenges posed by modernization and population decline.
