George Șerban

George Șerban is known for his pivotal role in the Romanian Revolution of 1989 and was a key figure in the post-revolutionary movement for democratic reform. He is most recognized as the initiator of the Proclamația de la Timișoara, a manifesto that outlined significant demands for Romania's political and social transformation following the fall of the communist regime. In March 1990, he presented this document from the balcony of the Timișoara Opera, advocating for anti-communist principles, free elections, and the elimination of former communist officials from political life. His efforts have been instrumental in shaping the discourse around democracy and civil rights in Romania.
