George Smoot

George Smoot was an influential astrophysicist known for his groundbreaking work in cosmology, particularly the study of the cosmic microwave background radiation. Born on February 20, 1945, in Yukon, he earned the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006 for his contributions to understanding the early Universe, including the discovery of 'lumps' in the primordial cosmic soup that helped explain the structure of the cosmos. He spent the later part of his life in Paris, where he continued his research and advocacy for science until his passing on September 18, 2023.
