Dr. Georges L’Espérance is a 74-year-old former neurosurgeon and the president of the Association Québécoise pour le Droit de Mourir dans la Dignité. He has administered approximately 200 medically assisted death procedures, primarily for patients with foreseeable deaths, and has been instrumental in the process of applying for advance requests in Quebec, including that of Sandra Demontigny. Dr. L’Espérance engages in thorough conversations with patients and their families to ensure that their wishes regarding end-of-life care are clearly understood and documented.
