Georges Miez

Georges Miez was a Swiss gymnast and the most successful Olympic participant from Switzerland, earning eight medals, including four golds, between 1924 and 1936. His participation in the 1936 Berlin Olympics was marked by a personal conflict regarding the Nazi regime, as he refused to salute Adolf Hitler during the medal ceremony, demonstrating a stand against totalitarianism despite the immense pressure of the event.
