Gerard Gotfrua de Montreal is a Belarusian volunteer and commander of the 'Tur' unit within the 225th Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Originally from Minsk, he sought to escape political repression under Alexander Lukashenko, leading to his imprisonment multiple times before he fled to Russia and subsequently to Ukraine. Initially working in a car repair shop, he quickly became involved in the conflict following the onset of war in Ukraine, participating in rescues and logistical support. Gerard has faced life-threatening situations during combat, notably under fire in Mykolaiv and near Bakhmut. He has transitioned from combat roles to maintaining and repairing military vehicles, and has developed a reputation for his technical skills, contributing significantly to his unit's effectiveness. Despite the dangers, he expresses no regrets about his decision to join the fight, emphasizing his commitment to the cause and the bonds formed with fellow soldiers.
