Gerardo López Gonzáles

Gerardo López Gonzáles is an accomplished Peruvian economist who recently took office as the Minister of Economy and Finance under President José María Balcázar. Prior to this role, he served as the Deputy Minister of Economy, contributing significantly to the economic landscape of Peru. A graduate of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, he holds a Master's degree in Public Finance and Administration from the Instituto de Estudios Fiscales in Spain. With 19 years of experience at the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT), López Gonzáles has held various leadership positions, focusing on compliance control, tax regulation, and international tax standards. He is recognized for his expertise in tax audits and digital taxation and has represented Peru in numerous international forums, including the recent APEC meeting in February 2024.
