Gergely Sándor

Gergely Sándor was a Hungarian football referee born in 1968, known for officiating in the NB I, Hungary's top football league. Over his career, he refereed a total of 44 matches in the league and was considered a promising candidate for the FIFA list, although he faced a setback in 1996 when he was excluded from the national roster. After a hiatus, he returned to the NB I in 2005 and later officiated at lower levels in Austria before retiring in 2007. Sándor passed away at the age of 56 on April 1st, 2023, shortly before he was scheduled to present an award at a cup match.
