Gert Oostindie

Gert Oostindie is a prominent Dutch historian and scholar known for his expertise in Caribbean history, particularly the colonial past of Suriname and the Dutch Caribbean. He has been involved in various academic and cultural initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the history and heritage of the region. Recently, he has taken on the role of chair of the Stichting Buku – Bibliotheca Surinamica, an organization dedicated to ensuring the continuity of Carl Haarnack's extensive collection of Surinamese literature and artifacts, thereby contributing to the education and public understanding of Surinamese history.
