Gertrude Joseph

Gertrude Joseph was a Jewish woman of Viennese origin who had a significant romantic relationship with German journalist and author Sebastian Haffner during the tumultuous years leading up to and during the rise of the Nazi regime. Her influence is reflected in Haffner's previously unpublished novel 'Parting', where the character Teddy is thought to be based on her, embodying the spirit of a lost cosmopolitan world amidst the growing political turmoil.
