Gheorghe Nețoiu

Gheorghe Nețoiu, often referred to as Gigi Nețoiu, is a Romanian businessman and former football club shareholder known for his involvement with clubs such as Dinamo and Universitatea Craiova. After a career in football management, he shifted his focus to agriculture, energy, and real estate, claiming to own one of the most modern Angus beef factories in Europe. Nețoiu's political career includes multiple affiliations with Romanian political parties, having served as a member of the PSD and later the UNPR, where he held the position of vice president. He gained notoriety due to his conviction for tax evasion and money laundering related to football transfers, which resulted in a prison sentence. Recently, he made headlines by announcing his candidacy for the position of mayor of Bucharest, accompanied by a festive event featuring patriotic music.
