He rose to fame in the 1960s, particularly known for his hit song 'Bandiera gialla,' which became an emblematic track of the era's pop music scene. Pettenati started his career by winning the Festival of Bellaria in 1965 and went on to participate in major music events, including the Sanremo Music Festival. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various artists and produced popular songs that remain celebrated today. In addition to his musical endeavors, Pettenati was a music critic and authored several books on the history of Italian light music. He was honored with a Bacchelli Law pension for his contributions to the arts before passing away at the age of 79 in his home in Albenga, Savona, surrounded by loved ones after a prolonged illness.
