Giannis Skaftouras

Giannis Skaftouras, also known as 'Uncle Joe', was a notorious figure in the Greek underworld, primarily involved in the smuggling of gasoline and tobacco. He controlled several gas stations in Attica and was linked to illegal activities, including the distribution of chemical solvents used for adulterating fuel. His expansion into tobacco smuggling led to violent conflicts with rival factions, ultimately resulting in his assassination in April 2022 during a brutal attack on his property, which highlighted the ongoing turf wars within the Greek Mafia.
