Gilbert Klingel was an American author and adventurer known for his exploration of the Bahamas, particularly Great Inagua, where he and his first mate, Wally Coleman, survived a shipwreck in 1930. His experiences there inspired his writings, including the book 'Inagua,' which details the ecology and culture of the island.
