Giorgios Mazonakis, born on March 4, 1972, in Piraeus, Greece, was a prominent Greek folk-pop and modern pop singer. He rose to fame after being discovered in a nightclub in Patras in 1992, and quickly gained a reputation for his powerful vocal performances. Mazonakis performed extensively across Greece and internationally, including in Cyprus, Germany, Australia, South Africa, and the USA. His musical style was heavily influenced by traditional Laïko songs from renowned artists such as Stratos Dionysiou and Yiannis Parios. He also contributed to the film industry, providing songs for movie soundtracks, and collaborated with the Greek fashion house Deux Hommes. Tragically, Mazonakis passed away during a plasma exchange treatment, leading to the arrest of two doctors involved in the procedure due to concerns about the legality of the treatment.
