
Giselle Burillo
Giselle Burillo is a Guatemalan politician who served as the director of the Authority of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ampyme) from 2009 to 2014. She has recently come under scrutiny for alleged corruption involving the mismanagement of contracts during her tenure at Ampyme, with claims of peculado (embezzlement) linked to significant financial irregularities. After being elected as a deputy in the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) in May 2024, she is set to face trial for these allegations, which include the improper handling of contracts worth $21.6 million related to technical training and support for small businesses.
