
Giuliano della Rovere
Giuliano della Rovere (1443-1513) was an Italian cardinal and the Pope from 1503 until his death in 1513, known as Pope Julius II. He is often referred to as the 'Warrior Pope' due to his ambitious military campaigns and efforts to consolidate the Papal States. Julius II was a significant patron of the arts, commissioning renowned works from artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael, and is credited with initiating the renovation of St. Peter's Basilica.
