Giuseppe Gabetti

Giuseppe Gabetti was a notable Italian composer born in Turin in 1796, known for his contributions to music as a director and teacher. His most significant achievement was composing the 'Marcia Reale', which served as the official anthem of the Kingdom of Italy until 1946. A passionate musician from a modest background, Gabetti joined the army and became the Chief Musician of the First Regiment of the Savoy Brigade. He was personally commissioned by King Carlo Alberto to create an official march, which became the soundtrack for royal public appearances. Gabetti's dedication to his craft was evident as he donated his work to the royal family without accepting payment.
