Gladys Pearl Baker

Gladys Pearl Baker was the mother of iconic actress Marilyn Monroe, born in 1902 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. She moved to Los Angeles where she worked in Hollywood as a film negative cutter and instilled a passion for cinema in her daughter, Norma Jeane (Monroe). Gladys played a significant role in connecting Monroe to her Mexican heritage, teaching her Spanish and fostering a love for Mexican culture.
