Gong Yanwu played a key role in the major restoration of Yueyang Tower between 1982 and 1984, serving as an on-site manager with the local cultural heritage management office. His work involved meticulous preservation efforts, ensuring that many of the original wooden structures were preserved while enhancing the tower's resilience against environmental degradation.
