Gonzalo Campomar Santander is a former Uruguayan rugby player and businessman who is at the center of one of the most significant financial fraud cases in Uruguay's recent history. He presented himself as an investment manager specializing in cryptocurrencies, promising returns far above market averages, but operated without the necessary authorization from the Central Bank of Uruguay. His activities, which included running a formal exchange house, attracted numerous investors, many from his personal circle, leading to significant financial losses when payments ceased.
