Grace Golden Clayton
Grace Golden Clayton was an American woman who is credited with the early concept of Father's Day. In 1908, after attending a Mother's Day service, she proposed a day to honor fathers, inspired by her own father's dedication to raising her and her siblings after the death of their mother. Although her initiative did not gain immediate traction, it laid the groundwork for the modern celebration of Father's Day, which was eventually formalized and celebrated on the third Sunday of June, thanks to the efforts of others like Sonora Smart Dodd.
