Gregorio Fuentes
Gregorio Fuentes was a Cuban fisherman and the inspiration for the character Santiago in Ernest Hemingway's novella 'The Old Man and the Sea.' Born in 1897, Fuentes spent much of his life in Cojímar, Cuba, where he became a close friend of Hemingway, who greatly admired his skills and stories. Fuentes passed away in 2002, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with literary history.
