
Grigore Antipa
Grigore Antipa was a prominent Romanian naturalist and biologist, born on December 7, 1867, in Botoșani. He is best known for establishing the foundations of Romanian hydrobiology, ichthyology, and oceanology. Antipa obtained his doctorate in biology in 1891 and significantly contributed to the organization and management of fisheries in Romania. He published numerous specialized works and introduced innovative museum practices, including the use of dioramas to represent animals in their natural habitats. He passed away on March 9, 1944, leaving a lasting legacy in the fields of biology and museum studies.
