Gülizar Pekpak

Gülizar Pekpak is the Siteler Mahalle Muhtarı in Marmaris, Turkey, who has served for over 15 years. She has recently voiced strong objections to the Marmaris Municipality's new policies regarding the distribution of aid during Ramadan, expressing concerns over the lack of trust shown towards muhtars and the impact of such policies on the dignity of aid recipients. Pekpak believes that the municipality's approach, particularly under the leadership of the new mayor Acar Ünlü, has been disrespectful and damaging to the relationship between local government and the community.
