Gulmira Smailova

Gulmira Smailova is a Kazakh woman who, ten years ago, underwent a complex heart transplant after suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy. Diagnosed at the young age of 21, Gulmira faced severe health challenges that led to her needing a new heart. Following her surgery in June 2015, which she described as a second chance at life, she has become an advocate for organ donation and an inspiration to many. Gulmira leads an active lifestyle, has returned to work, and participates in sports events, including winning a gold medal in bowling at the International Transplant Games. She is dedicated to raising awareness about organ transplants and has plans to write a book about her journey to inspire others facing similar health challenges.
