Gunnlaugur Guðmundsson

Gunnlaugur Guðmundsson, a prominent merchant in Reykjavík, passed away on July 16 at the age of 94. Born on February 8, 1931, in Vesturhópshólum, he was the youngest of seven siblings and began his career in retail at a young age. He was well-known for running his family’s store, Gunnlaugsbúð, which became a beloved fixture in the community. Alongside his wife, Svanhildur, he expanded their business to include a shopping center in Grafarvogur. In later years, they shifted their focus to agriculture and forestry on their land in Grímsnesi, where they established a swimming pool that remains a cherished resource for their descendants.
