Gustavo Bareiro
Gustavo Bareiro was a police officer in Ciudad del Este who was fatally shot while intervening in a robbery at a local store on July 27, 2022. Bareiro was not engaged in law enforcement activities at the time but was instead shopping for a gift for his mother's birthday when he encountered the robbery and was shot by one of the assailants, later identified as Jorge Rolando Cardozo Jara, alias Wifi.
