Guyana Geology and Mines Commission

The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) is a governmental agency responsible for the regulation and management of the country's mineral resources. Established to ensure sustainable development and effective management of Guyana's geological and mining sectors, the GGMC plays a critical role in overseeing mining operations, conducting geological surveys, and promoting the responsible use of the nation's natural resources. Recently, the GGMC was in the news due to an enforcement operation in which a boat sank during a joint mission with the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Defence Force, although all personnel aboard were able to swim to safety.
