Haidar Eid

Haidar Eid is an academic and author originally from Gaza, currently residing in South Africa after fleeing the ongoing violence in his homeland. He has been a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights and uses his writing to chronicle the experiences of oppression faced by his people. Eid has lost many family members and colleagues due to the conflict, which he describes as an 'incremental genocide.' He holds a PhD from the University of Johannesburg and is an associate professor at the University of Pretoria. His works, including 'Banging on the Walls of the Tank' and 'Decolonising the Palestinian Mind,' draw parallels between the Palestinian struggle and South Africa's history of apartheid, emphasizing the importance of resistance as a means of existence. Eid is also one of the founders of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, advocating for the rights of Palestinians through international law and awareness.
