Hamengku Buwono VIII

Hamengku Buwono VIII succeeded his father, Hamengku Buwono VII, as the Sultan of Yogyakarta in 1921, serving until 1939. His reign followed a period of transition and symbolized continuity within the Yogyakarta Sultanate.
