Hanan Belkheir

Hanan Belkheir is the Regional Director for the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Eastern Mediterranean. She has been actively involved in addressing health crises in the region, particularly in conflict-affected areas. Recently, she warned of the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, highlighting severe water shortages and the risk of malnutrition and disease due to ongoing blockades and violence. Belkheir has called for the lifting of the blockade and a permanent ceasefire to ensure that humanitarian aid can reach those in need.
