Hannes Þór Smárason

Hannes Þór Smárason is a prominent Icelandic businessman known for his extensive experience in the finance and biotechnology sectors. He served as the CEO of FL Group and held board positions in various companies, including Glitnir, before the financial crisis. Hannes was also the Deputy CEO of deCODE Genetics, where he collaborated with Kári Stefánsson, the company's founder. After the acquisition of deCODE Genetics by Amgen, he played a crucial role in establishing Wuxi NextCode, a company formed through the merger of a deCODE subsidiary and Wuxi Genome Center. Recently, he co-founded a new company, ESH ehf., alongside Kári Stefánsson, focusing on developing solutions in healthcare and software.
