Harald Smith was a pioneering Norwegian ski jumper who made history on February 28, 1909, by setting a world record of 45 meters at the Bolgenschanze in Davos, Switzerland. A member of the influential Smith family, he, along with his brothers, significantly contributed to the development of skiing in Switzerland. Smith not only excelled as an athlete, having won the prestigious Holmenkollen medal, but also as a ski instructor and innovator in ski design. He later settled in Bad Ragaz, where he remained active in sports, even into his late years, and was known for his vibrant health and engagement in the local golf community until his passing in 1977.
