Hassan Wahidi is an Afghan national who spent four years in a Greek prison after being wrongfully convicted in connection with a fire that devastated the Moria refugee camp in September 2020. Despite being a minor at the time, he and five others faced serious charges based on questionable evidence, primarily the testimony of a single witness who did not appear in court. Following a lengthy judicial ordeal, Wahidi was ultimately acquitted in 2024, prompting him to seek compensation for his unjust imprisonment. He has shared his harrowing experiences in Moria, describing the dire living conditions and the trauma of incarceration, while expressing hope to reconnect with his family and rebuild his life in Europe.
