Hazem Shaheen

Hazem Shaheen is a renowned oud player from Alexandria, Egypt, born in 1978. He graduated with honors from the Higher Institute of Arabic Music in 1999 and has gained recognition for his unique blend of modernity and tradition in his compositions. Shaheen has released two albums, 'Al-Eish Wal-Melh' and 'Hawagat Wahshani', and founded the band 'Iskenderella', known for its collective songs that reflect contemporary realities while drawing inspiration from Eastern musical heritage. He has collaborated with prominent artists, including the Lebanese musician Ziad Rahbani, and won the title of 'Best Oud Player in the Arab World' in the 2002 International Oud Competition in Beirut.
