Heather Maud Stewart

Heather Maud Stewart, born in 1963, is a prominent Irish politician and member of the Fine Gael party, known for her lengthy career in public service that includes serving as a cabinet minister. She grew up in Drum, County Monaghan, in a Protestant community and has been involved in politics since co-opting onto Monaghan County Council in 2003. Stewart gained recognition for her role as Minister for Rural and Community Development and has a reputation for her no-nonsense approach. Recently, she made headlines as she announced her bid to succeed Michael D Higgins as President of Ireland.
