Helgi Pétursson
Helgi Pétursson was a renowned Icelandic musician and media personality, born on May 28, 1949, in Reykjavík. He grew up in Kópavogur, where he developed a passion for music, co-founding the band Ríó Tríó in 1965. Helgi was a versatile artist, playing the double bass, singing, and entertaining audiences both in Iceland and abroad for decades. In addition to his music career, he worked in education and various media outlets, including RÚV and Stöð 2. Helgi also served on the Reykjavík City Council and was deeply involved in community affairs, most recently as chair of the Senior Citizens' Association. He passed away on November 13, 2023, at the age of 76.
