Henry Price McGrath

Henry Price McGrath was an Irish-American horse owner and breeder, born in 1814. He is best known for owning Aristides, the winner of the inaugural Kentucky Derby in 1875. McGrath's journey included striking it rich during the California Gold Rush, which enabled him to establish one of the first prominent stud farms in America, named McGrathiana, near Lexington, Kentucky. His legacy is intertwined with the history of American horse racing and his colorful personality made him a notable figure of his time.
