Herbert Kitchener
Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, was a British Army officer and colonial administrator born in 1850, who played a significant role in both the Second Boer War and World War I. He is best known for his 'Lord Kitchener Wants You' recruitment campaign, which inspired James Montgomery Flagg's later adaptation of the Uncle Sam poster. Kitchener's image became synonymous with British military recruitment and patriotism during his time.
