
Herman Aav
Herman Aav (1878–1961) was a prominent Estonian Orthodox cleric who became the first archbishop of the autonomous Orthodox Church of Finland. He is noted for his resolute opposition to the Moscow Patriarchate's attempts to reassert control over the Finnish Orthodox Church during the years 1945–1957, which he successfully resisted, maintaining the church's independence.
