Hernando de Talavera
Hernando de Talavera (c. 1428-1507) was a Spanish cleric and the first Archbishop of Granada. Appointed by Isabella of Castile, he was tasked with overseeing the conversion of the Muslim population after the Reconquista. Talavera advocated for a more humane approach to conversion compared to his successors, emphasizing dialogue over force. His efforts, however, were ultimately overshadowed by the more aggressive policies that followed his tenure.
